Northwest Community Credit Union recently announced plans to pursue a merger with TwinStar Credit Union of Lacey, WA. We continue to hire for all posted positions while taking into account the needs of our combined future organization. Pending a “Yes” member vote, NWCU employees will be combined with TwinStar employees at the time of our anticipated legal merger date, which is sometime in 2023. Branch Coverage Specialist

Wage: $21.28 - $24.47 per hour (dependent upon knowledge, skills, and abilities)

We provide an additional $2.00 per hour bilingual differential for those employees who are able to support our members' financial needs effectively in a second language; subject to verification of strong grasp of financial terms utilizing language skillset.

Position Primary Purpose:

Responsible for providing exceptional customer service while assisting new and existing members. Travels to multiple branch locations to fill critical staffing needs which requires flexibility during open hours of all branches in the region. When not scheduled in a branch as support, reports to designated home branch.

Responsibilities:

  • Approaches, welcomes and engages all visitors who come into the branches.
  • Performs all Teller, Member Service Specialist, or other duties as assigned by management.
  • Uncovers needs that each member or visitor has through conversation and recommends appropriate solutions; makes referrals to others as required.
  • Explains credit union policies or services; describes membership eligibility and interprets transaction history to members.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge and procedural expertise in all credit union services and products.
  • Meets and adheres to Member Service Standard expectations, treats each member and co-worker with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Takes initiative to help train fellow team members, acts as a role model and team player with fellow staff members.
  • Balances teller and member transactions daily; maintains a basic knowledge of certifications, keys, vault teller duties, cash orders, wire transfers, and check 21.
  • Manages time effectively; flexible with schedule and able to adjust hours if needed to accommodate needs of branch.
  • Follows all security procedures and processes, identifies risk and escalates concerns through proper channels.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of one year of Member Service Specialist experience.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; courses related to finance would be valuable.
Demonstrated Abilities:

  • Ability to identify and communicate appropriate products and services in a holistic, comprehensive manner.
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with diverse leadership styles or environments.
  • Demonstrate positive, professional interactions at all times, especially during leadership or staff changes.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced, often changing environment.
  • Work independently and dictate development needs and goals.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Read and respond to all correspondence, including emails.
  • Successfully complete required compliance training annually.

Employees (and their eligible family members) are eligible to enroll in a generous benefits package including health, vision, dental, life and AD&D insurance. Employees will also receive company provided life, AD&D, and long-term disability coverage and after 60 days may participate in the company’s 401(k) retirement plan where the company matches an employee’s contributions at 150%, up to 5%, after one year of service. Additionally, employees will receive up to 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, a minimum of 12 days of paid time off (PTO) each calendar year, and 13 weeks of paid leave used when on an approved state or federal protected leave or in compliance with company policy.

The hired applicant will also be eligible for role specific variable compensation in accordance with the established plan documents.
